Desmos Marbleslides

Desmos is a free online resource that allows students to investigate math. The following Marbleslides activity works best on a tablet or computer -- a phone is difficult with it's small screen size. This first activity investigates linear equations so it's appropriate for students from middle school through high school. Additional Marbleslides activities are provided at the end of this post.

The goal of each Marbleslides activity is to capture all of the stars on the screen by changing the equation of the graph. Students learn how each part of a linear equation affects the graph, and they are introduced to the idea of limiting the domain of an equation. The following activity starts out easy but quickly becomes more challenging!

Click HERE to begin this Linear Marbleslides activity. Students may create a free Desmos account or they can log in with any Google account -- this allows students to save their progress in the activity. Accounts are not required, however. Students (and parents!) can participate in the activity without signing in.
